1886 medallion
in white metal, obverse Great Eastern Steamship, reverse "SOUVENIR
OF VISIT TO THE GREAT EASTERN DUBLIN 1886", holed at top. The
Great Eastern was designed by Brunel and was the largest steamship
in the world when built. She served as transatlantic passenger liner
and then was used to lay transatlantic and other telegraph cables.
She visited Dublin in 1886 and was scrapped two years later. Scarce
medallion, fine. Pic
