Autograph. Sean O'Casey, 1942 postcard from Totnes, Devon to Miss Anne Kelly, "Irish Freedom", written in ink "...Iam glad you liked Pictures in the Hallway. As you say, the book is damnably dear...I am sorry to hear of Pat Dooley's illness...I shall look forward to your review in "Irish Freedom". With all good wishes, Sean O'Casey". Tape stains at top and bottom, otherwise fine.

194 Autograph. Sean O'Casey, three handwritten letters from O'Casey in Torquay in 1955, one to Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, another note to her sister Kathy, the third to Muriel Symington referring to the first. Elizabeth Gurley Flynn was an American radical and Communist and was imprisoned at this time in the US and O'Casey calls her "a brave and noble woman" and congratulates her on reaching her 65th birthday and "Irish and, at last, not ashamed of it". In the letter to Symington he says "I did my best to say
something suitable and sensible to Elizabeth for her long service to man, & her great courage in the longstruggle". All three items have tape stains at edges, otherwise fine. An interesting and important archive with certifying letter from US autograph dealer and background on Gurley Flynn. (3) Pic
