Autograph.
Sean O'Casey, three handwritten letters from O'Casey in Torquay in
1955, one to Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, another note to her sister Kathy,
the third to Muriel Symington referring to the first. Elizabeth Gurley
Flynn was an American radical and Communist and was imprisoned at
this time in the US and O'Casey calls her "a brave and noble
woman" and congratulates her on reaching her 65th birthday and
"Irish and, at last, not ashamed of it". In the letter to
Symington he says "I did my best to say
something suitable and sensible to Elizabeth for her long service
to man, & her great courage in the longstruggle". All three
items have tape stains at edges, otherwise fine. An interesting and
important archive with certifying letter from US autograph dealer
